What’s new at HCC?

We've been gearing up for the holidays here at Helmet Camera Central, and thought we'd give a quick preview of some of the new schwag we've started carrying recently. We've got some sweet new stuff, so be sure to check it out!

GoPro Helmet Hero Wide

GoPro, maker of the Hero wearable video camera has apparently been very busy over the past few months. They have just released a slew of new cameras and upgrades. The Hero is now available in a wide angle version giving you an astonishing 170 degree field of view! This is unheard of in the helmet cam world and should open up a lot of possibilties. They've also increased the still photo resolution to five megapixels, and their photo every five seconds mode just got three seconds shorter, allowing you to take a five megapixel shot every two seconds!

The wide Hero will be available by itself, or with the helmet or motorsports mounting kit. As if that wasn't enough they're also releasing a surf board mountable version of the Wide Hero; you just mount this baby on the nose of a surf board and it aims back at the surfer, allowing for some very cool shots. These cameras have just been released and will be rolling out over the next few weeks. Find out more here.

Oregon Scientific released their upgrade to the ATC2K recently, called the ATC3K (surprise). The ATC3K features a wider angle lens as well as a few other upgrades. The ATC5K, the newest Oregon Scientific helmet camera, which features a 1.5 inch LCD screen should arrive any time now. You can Liquid Image Underwater Video Maskfind out more about the Oregon Scientific line of cameras here.

We started carrying the Liquid Image Underwater Photo/Video mask a few months ago and it has been a very popular item. It's a quality diving mask which features a totally waterproof digital camera and camcorder. The camera takes pictures at five megapixels and pretty decent video at twenty frames per second. It's rated for a depth of up to 15 feet for all the casual snorkelers out there. Adding to the quality of the camera is it's extremely easy and straightforward operation, and best of all it's less than a hundred bucks! Rumor has that Liquid Image will be releasing a new pro model that will be water proof at depths up to thirty meters. Check out the Liquid Image Underwater Video Mask!

While we're talking about water, we might as well mention the POV.1 Big Wave Bag. This bag, made by Launch Helmet Cams in Australia is a totally new, totally sweet idea. It is basically a completely sealable, water proof housing for the POV.1 complete with the standard POV.1 digital cable built in to ensure a completely water proof seal. Allowing the POV.1 unit to go to depths of up to fifteen feet means it should be great for all you surfers, wakeboarders, and kayakers out there. You can find the Big Wave Bag here.

POV.1 Action Pouch

Also being released for the POV.1 is the POV.1 Action Pouch. This is a nice protective soft case for the POV.1 that features a bunch of velcro straps that allows it to be attached to all belts, packs, and vests - including those with Molle system. This should make it easier to mount the recording unit anywhere you'd like. The bag is available for preorder now and should be released very soon. Save a POV.1, buy the Action Pouch today!

We finally received some new mounts for the VholdR! In addition to the flat surface mount (helmet mount), we now also carry a vented helmet mount, a goggle strap mount, and a handlebar mount. These mounts allow you to attach the VholdR to just about anything you could think of, adding to the versatility of the VholdR. You can find all of these on the VholdR mount page. Be sure to check them out to see what possibile mounting solutions you can come up with.

We've also started carrying a new brand of memory cards, MaxFlash. We did a test of different brands of memory cards here at our headquarters and found MaxFlash to one of the most consistent and quality cards of them all. We're also carrying a 4gb SDHC card made by MaxFlash which will work great with the ELMO SUV-Cam or the Oregon Scientific ATC3K. They are available for a very reasonable price here.

That's about it for now, stay tuned for more updates as the shopping season hits full speed in the coming months.
